Brand Showcase

Below we highlight some of the fine brands that we represent in Ireland.

Bodegas Laus

Somontano, Spain

Bodegas Laus is a new winery in the emerging region of Somontano, in the foothills of the Pyrenees.

With huge investment and ambition, Laus have entered the market with a view to becoming the premium winery in the region. A state of the art winery, minimalist design and labels that have already garnered design awards all makes for a typically modern Spanish project.

However, the high altitude vineyards and use of varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Gewurtztraminer give it a thoroughly international profile.

Whilst, we’re sure that the slowly maturing vines are yet to yield their finest fruit, the early releases from Laus have been extremely well received and their introduction provides welcome variety to the Spanish scene.

Laus 700 Alt Blanco 2007, Vino De Finca Bachimana has just been awarded a Gold Medal at the annual 'Berliner Wein Trophy,' this wine event is one of Germany's most important tasting compititions as well as being one of Europe's most anticipated wine events.

Domaine de Mourchon

Seguret - Rhône Valley

The Domaine de Mourchon range of wines continues to grow. An initial range of three wines, the Grande Reserve and Tradition reds, and the Loubié rosé has grown in recent years to include a Chateauneuf-du-Pape, two special cuvée limited edition reds, a white wine and an entry level Côtes-du-Rhône red.

 It all began with Tradition

Their very first wine and still their best seller is our Côtes-du-Rhône Séguret Tradition red..., a classic Côtes du Rhône Villages red, blending Grenache and Syrah grapes and matured in unlined concrete casks.

Their oak conditioned Grande Reserve again blends Grenache and Syrah, this time afrom their oldest vines, and has consistently received excellent reviews from the world's best wine critics.

Add to that their rosé, Loubié, blending Grenache and Syrah with Cinsault to produce the ideal wine for Provençal aperitifs, but a wine of enough depth and complexity to also accompany a wide range of foods.

As the range developed, they added an entry level Côtes-du-Rhône. This is a typical simple Rhône blend offered at a competitive price for easy drinking. Ideal for barbecues or 'steak frîtes'.

"One of the reference point estates in the southern Cotes du Rhone, Domaine de Mourchon is situated in the charmingly beautiful Provencal hill top village of Seguret. This is a tour de force in winemaking from the Cotes du Rhone-Villages of Seguret. Kudos to Domaine de Mourchon! These splendid cuvees are all worth buying by the caseload."

Robert Parker

"Domaine de Mourchon is the unquestioned leader in Séguret"

Stephen Spurrier

Mourchon is "amongst the most interesting 5 per cent of wine made today"

Jancis Robinson

"An energetically-run property in Côtes du Rhône-Villages can make an outstanding wine, in spite of its apparent geological hurdles. Such is the case with Walter McKinlay’s Domaine de Mourchon located up in the hills above the Ouveze River, behind the striking cliffside village of Séguret."

Vigneti Radica

Chieti, Abruzzo, Italy

The history of Vigneti Radica (Radica wineyards) goes back to the Fifties when the late grandfather Rocco (known in the village as Zi’ Rock) established his first wineyard in Tollo. Initially he cultivated mostly table grapes, producing wine only for family and friends. Grape cultivating proved to be a success and Rocco purchased more lands in Feudi di Ortona, dedicated solely to wine grapes. Rocco believed strongly in the potential of Abruzzo’s wine, being one of the founders of the farmers’ cooperative established in Tollo to produce local wine.

Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOC

Their flagship red wine of limited edition. They  use only our best Montepulciano d’Abruzzo grapes from the exceptional vines planted on 1973. The wine has aged 12 months in semi roasted French oak barrels. The wine is Ruby red with brilliant shades of pomegranate. Persistent aroma, with notes of dried fruit, comfiture, spices and roasted caramel. Taste is well-structured, warm, and balanced, with soft tannin.

The Montepulciano was recongnised at Vinitaly International Wine Competition 2011 – winning a Grande Menzione

Pinot Grigio Terre di Chieti IGT

In the world Pinot Grigio is a very common grape variety but not in Abruzzo. Antonio decided to cultivate it and the result has been excellent thanks to the perfect combination of weather and soil. Vigneti Radica are practically the only cultivators and producers of Pinot Grigio, and with considerable success.

Recommended for aperitif, starters, fish and white meats. It is particularly good with sushi. It is also well suited for enjoying without food. Serving temperature 12 °C. Fruity wine with citrus notes. Well bodied and delicate taste with aftertaste of gooseberry.

The grapes were hand-picked on the first week of September. After soft crushing, temperature of must is quickly reduced to 12 °C to avoid spontaneous fermentation. Once the must has arrived to the steel tanks, computer-controlled fermentation is activated to transform must to wine. Refinement in steel tanks under controlled temperatures for 6-months and a short period in bottle.

Trebbiano d’Abruzzo DOC

"Trebbiano" comes from the Italian word "trebbiare", meaning harvesting. It used to be the white wine drunk by the workers while harvesting grain under the summer sun of a warm and flowering Abruzzo.  They have tried to close into the bottle all these summer smells and colours hoping to share with you the simplicity of a wonderful land and life.
